An accomplished musician, choral ensemble director, and Barbershop Harmony Society member, Tony has five international quartet gold medals. Tony also was inducted into the BHS Hall of Fame in July 2022 and he received the BHS Joe Liles Lifetime Achievement Award in July 2025.
Currently, Tony is a 45 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society joining at the age of 7 with his Dad as his first director, coach, and mentor. He hit the International Barbershop competition stage as a tenor, at age 12. Seven years later, after many appearances at International with District Championship quartets, he captured his first gold medal (The youngest ever to win in the Barbershop Harmony Society at 19!) with the 1992 champions, Keepsake. Since then, he has added four more International Quartet Championships with PLATINUM (2000 Champions), Max Q (2007 Champions), Main Street (2017 Champions), and his most recent quartet, Three and a Half Men (2024 Champions). Through the years, each quartet has had its own impact on the barbershop world performing shows, sharing unique music and performances, and even being the feature storyline for a documentary movie in 2007, American Harmony. His membership in five championship quartets is a record within the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Since 2007, Tony has directed the Toast of Tampa Show Chorus to consistent Regional Championships and Top 10 International finishes. Included in the Top 10 finishes are five finishes in the Top 5. In addition, Tony has directed the Heralds of Harmony (Barbershop Harmony Society) on two different occasions. His first stint from 1994-2002 yielded District Championships and nine straight visits to the International Convention. After a break, he rejoined the Heralds in 2012 and they have continued to climb with a Silver Medal (2nd Place) finish at the BHS International Convention in 2024.
While these are important barbershop and musical stats, Tony’s strength and joy is drawn from his faith in the Lord and his connected family. He and his wife, Jodi, have been married for 25 years after meeting at The Voices of Liberty and have four children and three grand children. Alec and her husband Eric (along with their three girls Ella, Aubrey, and Addison), Kayla, Joseph, and Sophia. Joseph and Tony sing in Three and a Half Men together and the two share in chorus experiences with the Heralds of Harmony. Similarly,
Sophia is the creative choreographer for the Toast of Tampa. Life is loaded with music and
performance!
